“I would always be watching the drummer even though I was taking organ lessons. I would think to myself I really want to play those drums and I know I can do it. When I saw that live band, that’s what I wanted to do instead of the organ. At 14, my parents helped me get my first drum set, a Ludwig white pearl kit. Wish I still had that today. We put it in the basement. I would put records on the stereo, Grand Funk Railroad, Savoy Brown, Deep Purple, Yes… all different types of rock bands. I just started jamming.” Brenda did take some lessons “to learn the rudiments and I just went from there.” Brenda

“In the early ‘60’s I was sitting in the ditch in front of our house with a little blue 9-volt transistor radio and the Beatles came on. The sound coming out of that little thing was new and incredible! I, like most everyone else, sat and watched the Beatles play for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Burl
